Success [Diamante Poem] - Synonym

...

Success
Happy Pleased
Challenging Trying Sharing
Endeavor Sweat Prize Pleasure
Dreaming Hoping Fulfilling
Beautiful Wonderful
Goal

...

...

In my opinion, success is achieved by sweat and goal, and true successful life is to share things that we gain from success with others. That's why I used 'goal' for synonym of 'success', and that's why I used 'sharing' in my poem.

Food [Diamante Poem] - Antonym

...

Food
Delicious Attractive
Cooking Eating Enjoying
Chicken Chocolate Summer Shorts
Running Starving Exercising
Hungry Patient
Diet

...

...

In my poem, 'Diet' doesn't mean 'menu' or 'diet therapy'. It means losing weight. Delicious food brings us a huge pleasure and makes us happy, but when we are on diet, we should be patient the desire for sweet food and exercise really hard. That's why 'Diet' is the antonym for 'Food'.

What is Korea?

"Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oppa Gangnam style!"
I heard some foreigners have become interested in Korea, thanks to K-POP, and I believe you might have entered my blog because you are also interested in Korea. If you are not, it is okay:) Today, I want to give you some helpful information to understand Korea.

First, I want you to know "What is Korea?"

Location of Korea
1. Location

Korea is located in Asia, between China and Japan. I guess you might think Korea is so small, compared to other countries. Even though Korea is not large, Korea lacks nothing people need to live. There are a number of colorful mountains(especially in fall), rivers, beaches, rich land, and many others. Moreover, Korea has a good climate with four seasons because it is located in a moderate latitude, so we can enjoy with both exciting summer and winter activities like swimming and skiing in Korea.

President Geunhye Park

2. Government

Korea is a democratic nation and the form of government is the presidential system. We have a presidential election every five years and adults can vote for the president. The recent president of Korea is Geunhye Park, who is also the first female Korean president.

Hangeul
3. Language

Koreans use 'Hangeul' as their alphabet. Hangeul was invented by King Sejong in the Chosun Dynasty, in 15th century. Koreans are really proud of hangeul. Hangeul is so easy to learn and scientific. A scholar said, 'A child can master hangeul in a week.' Not only that, it is even recognized by UNESCO World Heritage. If you are interested in Korea, I recommend you learn hangeul.

Gimchi
4. Food

Most traditional Korean food is fermented food, so it contains a lot of lactic acid bacteria and is good for your health. For example, fermented foods include soy sauce, soybean paste, and red pepper paste. They are a little salty, but we use them as important ingredients for most Korean food. They make food more delicious. They are representative tastes of Korea. Another feature of Korean food is its spiciness, just a little. One spicy Korean food is gimchi. Koreans really love it and may not be able to live without gimchi.

Now, I'd like to talk to you about "What is Korea famous for?"

PSY
1. K-POP

As I mentioned at the beginning of my post, most foreigners may have known Korea because of K-POP. There are a number of famous singers in Korea. PSY is a Korean singer and has hit songs 'Gangnam Style' and 'Gentlemen'. Girls' generation and Super Junior are also famous over the world. They all show gorgeous performance and catchy songs.

Yuna Kim

2. Sports

Even though the land size of Korea is not large, the population of the Republic of Korea is about 50,000,000 and there are many excellent people, especially in sports. Taehwan Park won the gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics in swimming. Yuna Kim is the top of figure skating. Koreans are really proud of them.

National flag of North Korea

3. A divided country

I introduced two good famous things of Korea, but Korea also has a bad image. Actually, Korea is the only divided country in the world, so war could break out suddenly. However, North Korea has great resources and the Republic of Korea has great scientific technology. I hope Korea will achieve unification and become a strong country.

Did you get some helpful information from my post? I hope so. One more thing I hope for is the unification between the Republic of Korea and North Korea. I wish it would be so!

Movie Review: Princess Bride

Princess Bride

Genre : Fantasy, Romantic, Comedy

At the beginning of this movie, a grandfather is reading a story, 'Princess Bride' to his sick grandson.

There is a beautiful woman in the countryside in Florin. Her name is Buttercup. Westley, who lives near by her house, always obeys her order with "As you wish." Buttercup have a good feeling toward Westley, and Westley, too. They realize they love each other. However, Westley leave her to look for luck to be rich, but he is killed by Pirate Roberts and Buttercup heard it.

After 5 years, Buttercup is betrothed with the prince of Florin. One day, three robbers steal her, but a brilliant man in black appear and save her. He introduce himself, Pirate Roberts, who killed Westley! She pulls him and he rolls down the hill and said, "As you wish!" She recognizes Westley and goes back with him through a scary fire cave. However, the pricne catches them. He promises to free Westley if Buttercup comes back. Buttercup comes back but he broke the promise! He tortured Westley and Westley finally died. One day, Fezzik and Inigo Montoya, who are robbers and kidnaps Buttercup, gathered again and Inigo made a plan to take a revenge of his father. His father was killed by Count Rugen, who is the vizier and has six-fingers for each hand. However, they need Westley to enter the Castle. They save Westley with a wizard and succeed to enter with some trick. Even though Count stabs Inigo's stomach with his knife, Inigo succeeds his revenge! Westley also meets Buttercup and they(Westley, Buttercup, Inigo, and Fezzik) lived happily.

Before watching it, I speculated the movie will be childish due to the title of this movie. From this movie, however, I gained two significant lessons that we usually forget in daily life.

To begin with, 'Princess Bride' reminded the importance of friendship. There were three characters who made some disturbance and entered the castle. Westley did it for his love and Inigo did it for his revenge for his father. Then, what about Fezzik? Is there any reason why he must enter the castle? Actually, they were supposed to be killed if their operation was failed. Even if Fezzik could die, he helped these two men for friendship. Do you have any friends who can choose you between the life and you? Actually, I don't have. There is endless competition in our life. We should beat our friends in school examination, job interview, companies, and many others. People are also busy due to their work. For these reasons, it is not easy to have genuine friends nowadays. However, who can we depend on when our family passes away? Only support and helper will be friends. We should value the friendship that love and help each other. We should endeavor to make genuine friends.

In addition, there is nothing to fail if we are firm of purpose. We are usually afraid of failure, so some of us give up our precious dreams. In this movie, however, it emphasized we can succeed everything with a strong will. Do you think we can survive during the battle with a wild boar with no weapon? Do you think we can survive when your enemy stapped your stomach with a knife? You might answered "No." However, they all survived in the movie. Westley and Inigo had a strong will for their purpose. In my opinion, this movie wanted to tell us that no obstacle can disturb you with a strong will and do not give up.

In  conclusion, this movie was quite impressive. It gave me two imperative things: friendship and a strong will. However, I couldn't understand all this movie because I watched it without subtitle. I hope I will watch this movie again with subtitle.

Not to Regret when I Die

I don't know how fast time goes! My age is fifteen, but I didn't achieve or experience anything impressive in my life. I made my 'Bucket List' today. I am going to endeavor to achieve it.

To begin with, I want to climb Mt. Halla. I went to Jeju Island with my family this winter and started to climb it, but we couldn't Mt. Halla was so slippery due to the snow, but we didn't bring our climbing irons. My father goes climbing every weekend and I am interested in climbing, too, but we gave up to climb Mt. Halla when we just began to go. I was so disappointed. I hope we see Baekrokdam next time in summer.

Second, I wish I will appear on the 1st page of newspapers. Of course, with positive article. My dream is to be as an excellent judge as Laguardia. His judgment is really famous. A poor grandmother stole a piece of bread. His ruling was to punish monetary penalty to our society, which made her poor. I want to judge as awesome as him and see the article about me in newspapers.

Third, I want to marry a man, who has a good personality, understands me well, and is a doctor. Actually, my father's back and neck are not fine and I am worried about the emergency that our parents are really sick. The medical care costs us a lot of money, but I can be relieved if my husband is a doctor. It doesn't matter what his major surgery is. We can contact other doctor friends through my husband.

Fourth, I will read all contents of the bible. As I said in my self introduction, I received baptism and the Holy Spirit last year, but I don't have a lot of knowledge about God, even if I believe in Christianity. I will be really ashamed in front of God when I died. I am also ashamed when I lead others to God, so I will read all the bible.

Next, I want to improve my English skills to the top. I feel really panicked everyday at my terrible English skills at GLPS. My classmates really do well in every class, but it is hard for me to understand well what teacher said and do my projects well. I will develop my English skills as I can talk and express my thoughts in English freely as GLPS teachers.

Sixth, I will buy a wonderful house for my parents and my younger brother. I guess they all have suppressed their anger at my bad personalities and actions. I played the computer games all day and I hit my lovely brother really strongly. I am so, So, SO!!! SORRY to them now.. I regret my actions... I want to make them pleasant with a wonderful house, which is a three-storied to live together and has a beautiful garden. I will live with my family in the wonderful house when I grow up.

Seventh, I want to take a trip with 'Oasis of the Seas', which is the largest cruise in the world, with my family. My mother showed me the picture of it and she really wants to get on it and travel, but it costs us several thousands dollars for a week for each person. I will spend my money for my thankful family. I will take a trip on Oasis Cruise with my family and buy them a house. Oh! My father wants to grow crops when my younger brother and I graduate from the university. I will buy him really large land for agriculture, too.

Eighth, I want to dance in front of a number of an audience well. My body doesn't follow my order and I don't dance well. I think my physical ability is a weakness of me. I will triumph over my weakness and perform fantastic dance in front of the audience.

Ninth, I will contribute one hundred thousand dollars to the poor. I believe my future will be bright and try to make my future successful now, but I think I will not be happy without sharing. I believe the successful life is completed by sharing with others.

Lastly, I will write my autobiography. I really envy people who have their autobiographies.  When I read their books, I realize a lot of important things in my life and try to live like them. I want to write my autobiography and I hope my book will help and encourage others, as other books helped me. :)

After I made my bucket list, I realized what I really want in my life. My first life goal is to make my family happy, who is my secure supports. My second life goal is to success in my life and become helpful person to the world. My bucket list can be summarized by these two life goals. I hope these all will come true.

Who Am I?

: Basic Information about Kelly
- Name: Kelly
- Age: 15 (in Korean age) , 7th grader (after winter vacation, I will become a 8th grader.)
- Local: Asan in Chungchungnamdo

'I am running in the field. Other runners want to beat me in the race, but no one can run faster than me!' I usually imagined my favorite computer game during classes when I was an elementary school student. I speculate you might think I am a boy, as it is not as common for girls to fall in love with computers. However, I am a girl who really liked computer games. MY name is Kelly. I'd like to introduce myself with the symbols of me: the computer, my family, and God.

To start with, I can't tell about me without the computer. As I said at the beginning of
this post, I was crazy at computer games until I was a middle school student. To introduce my previous schedule, I woke up and played computer games, went to school and played the games, had dinner and then played games before going to bed. I almost liked all genre of games. I am only exaggerating a little when I say, there was no game that I didn't play, but I changed my mind to start to study a few years ago and keep away from the computer. Them did the relationship between the computer and me finish? Not yet. I am familiar with the computer and my typing speed is very fast because I spent half of my life with it. I participated in 'the searching information with the computer competition' as the representative of my school every year and I got the first prize in Chungchungnamdo last year. Moreover, I often use the computer to surf the Internet. Computers still affect me in various ways.

Second, I am not sure that I can live without my family. There are four members in my family: mother, father, younger brother, and me. My mother is my teacher, friend, and the secure support of my life. I sometimes get really stressed at school, but my mother comforts me a lot and tries to make me feel better. My father is an encouraging adviser for me. Before the school examination, I am really nervous about the tests, then my father gave me some advice to make me relaxed. At last, my younger brother is so cute. Actually, I hit him a lot when I was young. On second thought, I cannot understand why I hit and disliked him, so I am really, really, really SORRY to my brother.. and regret.. I try to do my best for him. I miss my family so much at GLPS... PLEASE see you in a good shape after 2 weeks!

Third, I think God blesses me. I believe in Christianity. To tell the truth, I was not sure about my belief of God before I moved my church. When I started to go to church in Seoul last summer, however, I changed a lot. My belief has become more stronger now. I received baptism and the Holy Spirit. I am really thankful to my God. He allowed me a wonderful family, kind teachers, friends, to be healthy and live happily. I am SATISFIED with my life that God gave me.

To sum up, they are the most important things in my life. I cannot exist without the computer, my lovely family, and God. Did you read all my essay? Then you know almost everything about me now. Thank you :)
